Liverpool Hospital School
Welcome to Liverpool Hospital School where learning is wellbeing.
About our school
We are a Hospital School. We support students with who are currently patients inside Liverpool hospital. Our school provides a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment where every student is recognised and supported to achieve their full potential.
We work with families, carers and support staff to make a learning and wellbeing plan for each student. This means all students can learn in a way that suits them best.
Alongside our curriculum, students take part in programs that build skills in:
- literacy and numeracy
- identifying and expressing their passion
- exploring their passion in future career pathways
- explicit wellbeing practices
Our classrooms are set up to meet each student’s needs. We make sure students feel safe, respected and ready to learn in a way that suits them. Our staff are caring and are skilled to help students feel confident, connected and proud of who they are.
Our school uses a placement process. Enrolment occurs through a formal referral. Families and schools can contact us if they think our school might be right for their child. To learn more, visit our attendance enquiries page.
Vision and purpose:
At Liverpool Hospital School, learning is wellbeing. Every student will be challenged to unlock their full potential through a culture of high expectations, intervention practices and passion projects. We inspire curiosity so that all students can embrace a life-long love of learning.
Beliefs:
At Liverpool Hospital School we believe:
- Learning is wellbeing – when we get the learning at the right access point and challenge, it brings the child into the present and is a form of mindfulness.
- Learning is explicit teaching followed by the facilitated opportunity to practice.
- Curiosity and joy are encouraged when learning is fun and experiential utilising as many of the five senses as possible.
- Relationships are at the heart of everything we do.
- We should always apply Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs as the steps before readiness to learn.
- We must look after our own and each other’s wellbeing in order to bring wellness to others.
Values:
At Liverpool Hospital School we adopt and adapt the Values of the Department of Education:
Excellence: We strive to be our best and we create ongoing partnerships because we believe we are better together.
Integrity: Kindness matters. We do what is right for our people, even when it is hard.
Equity: We lift people up. We provide equal opportunities. We are respectful and fair.
Accountability: We are each accountable for our own choices, actions and performance. We work together as a team for the good of the child and their family.
Trust: We are who we say we are. We support one another to be the people we need to be to achieve our best.
Service: We are a Public Service to the people. We hold students at the centre of all we do. We are flexible, innovative and responsive to the needs of our community.
